Today's post is stimulated by two items. The first is a column by John Tierney, the New York Times' resident Climate Change and Peak Energy cynic, on Tuesday, December 28th, entitled "Economic Optimism? Yes, I'll Bet on That"
The second item comes courtesy of Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, for whom I generally have high regard for level-headedness, and his rant on the "wussification" of America as reflected in the decision of the NFL to postpone a game in the face of a blizzard.
Both issues, for different reasons share a common theme in illustrating the sorry state of our society.
